U.S To Invest $4.5 million In Ghana Election.

The US had pledged $4.5 million dollars to support Ghana’s 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for November 7.

The US Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Robert Porter Jackson, revealed this on Friday at the closing of  a Voice of America (VOA) training for Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) on effective news coverage for elections.

He said one-third of the money would be allocated to the Electoral Commission (EC), with a part going to the National Peace Council and civil

Ambassador Jackson also called on journalists to improve their reportage ahead of the elections.

The ambassador said he had also been interacting with the election front-runners – incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stressed that the US would not support any candidate in the election – a decision he said was up to Ghanaians.
